Debbie and Shain
We are Debbie and Shain of Haute Goat. After selling our farm in Campbellford in 2015, we moved to Port Hope to be closer to family in Toronto and we brought our animals with us. We would tell people we had goats and invited them to come see them and from there – things went crazy in a good way! Haute Goat Farm is now a breathtaking 200-acre farm located just outside historic Port Hope where you can discover the magic of our Nigerian Dwarf Goats, Huacaya Alpacas, Exotic Chickens, Icelandic Horses, Apiary, Tornjak Livestock Guardian Dogs and our big, silly mule named “Lucy”. We produce handmade, small batch goat milk skin care products, soaps and lotions and delectable goat milk artisan edibles and goodies, such as caramels, chocolates and fudge.
Erin + Nick
Hi I am Nick of Happenstance Bakery which I co-own with my wife Erin. We are a scratch bakery in Port Hope which we opened in 2016 after moving from Toronto. The name Happenstance fits in with the fact that we did not expect to end up in Port Hope but we did, we love it, and we ended up opening a store here. We are known for our breads – especially our garlic cheddar sourdough, cinnamon buns and pretzels. We also roast coffee – 200 pound each week – and we only sell by half pound so that customers have a fresh supply on hand. We are trying to give people a taste of something different!
Elizabeth
Hi I am Elizabeth of Our Lucky Starts Café & Roasters in Warkworth. After many years living in downtown Toronto with a career path that went from being a Registered Nurse to an internationally published design journalist and then as a producer on several home and garden television shows, my partner I and I Trevor packed in the urban life and headed for the hills – The Northumberland Hills! Within 6 months I opened Our Lucky Stars Cafe & Roastery. Since 2013, along with our two daughter and niece, we’ve been roasting fair trade organic coffee in small batches as well as preparing home-made, from-scratch, all-natural treats and lunches, with many gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan options. Local, seasonal ingredients and supplies are sourced where-ever possible, year round.
Jack
I am Jack – the owner and pitmaster of Friesen’s Smokehaus – a German-inspired deli, restaurant in Warkworth. With strong German roots and family recipes passed down from generations, we are able to provide authentic and unforgettable smoked meats and sides. Our family is passionate about providing our customers with a unique experience and flavor profile found only by cooking with charcoal and live fire.
